Welcome to Jeddah’s real time air quality and related information website

As Jeddah is a developing nation with rapid urbanization underway, heavy traffic congestion and a thriving economic growth, the growing air pollution problems are something to be concerned about and needs on-going monitoring. This website provides current information about the air quality in Jeddah and lets you know the status of the quality of the air; if it’s unhealthy or safe and it will give you insight into the types of pollution in the air which effects human health. The air monitoring data is used to determine the relationship of existing pollutant concentrations using the National Ambient Air Quality Standards, Presidency of Metrology & Environment, (PME) and when not available the Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA) U.S.A. is used. This helps to assist in the development of strategies to reduce pollution levels where necessary and track the effectiveness of those strategies. We’ve reported the rate of pollution by using a range-method whereby you may know if it’s good, moderate, or in the danger zone and a threat to your health.

This work is part of the on-going efforts by the Amana (Jeddah Municipality) to help make Jeddah’s environment healthier. It is part of the Jeddah Urban Observatory project that began in July 2007 led by Dr. Mohammed Ismail Abdulsalam, Chief Supervisor of the Observatory.

Our air quality mobile station is equipped with the latest technology using ambient air monitoring analyzers (Horiba-Japan), a dust analyzer and a metrological measurement center. Our station’s location can be monitored remotely from satellite using the Global Positioning System (GPS).
